The Google Assistant Driving Mode is a feature which gives smartphone users an Android Auto – Lite experience while driving. In 2019 it was announced and was finally launched officially last year. However not soon, Google is planning to shut down the Assistant Driving Mode dashboard. It was an effective replacement for the Android Auto smartphone app. Unfortunately, this app was also shut down last year.
The Assistant Driving Mode feature displays a home screen- style page with the Google Assistant on the top itself. It has a music player and volume controls just below that. There are also specific buttons to make a call or even send a message.
It can be accessed from the Assistant by simply saying, ‘’Hey Google, launch Driving Mode’’. It can also be pinned to the home screen. Most of the people confuse the Assistant Driving Mode with the Google maps, which is understandable.
The Google Map version launches from a four- dot menu at the bottom right when you start navigation. Even when it is open, it shows a row of large icons for call, messages and media apps which are easy to see and access while driving. As most of the people were using the maps version, Google has decided to shut down the Assistant Driving Mode feature. Because of its similarity with the Google maps and its naming confusion, most of the people may not have even known that the Assistant version did exist.
